What is Fidelis?
Fidelis will be our new offering for all of the Young Women of the Parish, taking the place of our current Youth Ministry offerings. While Fidelis is specifically tailored towards inviting Young Women between the 6th and 12th Grades, Fidelis is much more than just a Youth Ministry Program. Fidelis is focused on providing a Sisterhood of faithful, devoted, Catholic Women of all ages who strive to live a life of Authentic Catholic Femininity. This means that Fidelis is a Sisterhood for all, whether you start at the very beginning in 6th grade, join in High School, come back in College, are a Young Mother, or are an empty nester; all are considered part of the Fidelis Sisterhood! Following a yearly cycle, Fidelis leans heavily on the practice of the Cardinal and Theological Virtues, witness of the Lives of the Saints, and is rooted in the Sacred Tradition founded in the Catholic Church. This means that Fidelis goes beyond simple catechesis, allowing us to accompany our young women through their lives, learning, growing, and praying with them!
What Does it Look Like?
- Fraternus and Fidelis is Gender-specific ministry, allowing us to delve deeper in the unique aspects of our identity as men and women in a way that isn't possible in co-ed ministry! While there are still plenty of opportunities for men and women to experience the faith together that we have, are, and will continue to offer, we believe having this as our "base" allows our young men and women to flourish all the more; confident and rooted in their own identity!
- With the target age-range of Youth being between 6th-12th grade, Jr. High and High School Ministries will be combining our efforts together! This allows many wonderful experiences for both the younger women to have role models to look up to in their high school Sisters, as well as enables the older Sisters to take on leadership and responsibility for even further growth!
- Combining both our Jr. High and High School Offerings also means a change in time and place! In deciding a new time, we went back to the drawing board to look at the big picture of what's happening at our Young Women's schools, sports, and extra-cirriculars to find the most available time for them. While we will still have Fidelis in the Youth Ministry Buildings (YMC, Craig Willy, and Gym), we are shifting our meeting time to be on TUESDAYS AT 6:30-8:30 following the 6:00PM Masses. This change to a weekday from a Sunday includes the major benefit of RETURNING FAMILIES THEIR SUNDAYS!
- Fidelis includes a ton of resources, formation, promotion, events, and more for our young women, leaders, and families. Providing these higher quality materials will come with a cost, however, and we've been able to work that down as much as we can so that anyone can be a part of Fidelis; Cost should never be a impediment to a real encounter with Christ and His Church. With that, Fidelis will incurr a $100 yearly fee to cover all costs for our meetings as well as providing the accompanying materials for our Young women and leaders.
When is it Starting?Beginning on September 9th, we will have our first Fidelis Night following the 6:00pm Mass on Tuesday Evenings. These will run from 6:30pm-8:30pm parallel to our Fraternus Nights. More details on where Fidelis will be held will come in the following Months, so make sure you're registered and keeping your eyes open for more from us!
