What is the Rescue Project?
The Rescue Project is a multi-week event of great food, meaningful fellowship, transformative content and dynamic conversations. The series, created by Fr. John Riccardo and the team at ACTS XXIX, provides an inspirational articulation of the good news of the gospel that is the foundation of our faith.
What Happens at The Rescue Project?
Food – Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee and appetizers, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at The Rescue Project. We start with food, because it’s a great way to encourage community and get to know each other.
Video – The videos are designed to engage and inspire conversation. They explore the big issues around life and unpack some important questions many people want answered.
Conversation – Probably the most important part of any Rescue Project experience is the chance to share thoughts and ideas in a small group discussion. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
I’ve already done the Rescue Project – Why do it again?
The kerygma, the good news of our salvation is what the Rescue Project proclaims. Pope Francis stated that “the first proclamation (of the kerygma) is called ‘first’ not because it exists at the beginning and can then be forgotten or replaced by other more important things. It is first in a qualitative sense because it is the principal proclamation, the one which we must hear again and again in different ways…” We are all in a different place this fall to experience the Rescue Project in a new way. This is part of the adventure of a disciple… to be open to how God wants to move in us at different points in time.
For those who have experienced it already, we encourage you to invite and accompany others and experience it in a fresh way this year.
Will Childcare be provided?
Childcare is not provided.
We encourage you to find other people who want to attend The Rescue Project to resource together to have childcare in your homes with trusted childcare professionals, but we cannot provide those needs on a large scale.
What is the gospel?
St. Paul tells us the gospel is the power of God for salvation. In other words, it’s not just news, let alone ordinary news. The gospel is the explosive, extraordinary, and life-changing news of Jesus’ defeat of the power of Sin and Death. It’s the news that gives hope!
ACTS XXIX has traveled across the nation the past few years, they have witnessed the overwhelming impact the gospel is having on everyone who hears it. People are hungry for truly good news and for an understanding of the mission that God has uniquely entrusted to them.
Who is it for?
In short... the Rescue Project is for YOU!
The Rescue Project is designed to be a proclamation of the good news and we all need to hear this message proclaimed frequently.
It is intended for men and women.
It is intended for those new to the faith and those who have been in the faith their entire life.
It is intended for those who are exploring the faith, those digging deeper in the faith and those who are just scratching the surface.
It is intended for the young and the more mature and everyone in between.
It is intended for people in the pews, those who have fallen away, and those who are declaring themselves as “nones”.
Is this just for Parishioners of St. Louis de Montfort?
The Rescue Project is open to anyone you invite. We certainly want all of our parishioners to experience the Rescue Project, but we have created multiple offerings to make space for those who are interested. Small Groups in your home are a primary way to invite non-Catholics to experience it. Many would not step foot into the Church, but they would join you in your home.
What is the cost?
FREE! The Rescue Project will be available at no cost to everyone! We will provide opportunities to help offset the cost of such a major effort at our parish, but there is no charge to participate.
DONATIONS: If you would like to donate to Rescue you can do so HERE.
