CARDINAL WALKATHON: OCTOBER 9
DAY OF APPAREL
As a ministry of the Church, we share in the greatest mission there is: leading souls to Christ. When our students walk, they make a small but meaningful witness to their desire to strive for Christ and live out their faith.
The support raised at the Walkathon helps meet the immediate needs of our school today while also helping us form the next generation of Catholics.
This year, our goal is to raise $90,000 to support four important needs at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic School.
Approximately $30,000
Students in grades K-2 need access to Chromebooks for testing and classroom use. Our current Chromebooks are approximately five years old and are experiencing normal wear and tear from student use.
Approximately $30,000
Our current lockers were donated to the school 26 years ago. Over the years, additional lockers have been purchased, resulting in several different styles and colors throughout the school. The built-in locks are also becoming difficult to open and are wearing out.
New lockers would provide a consistent look that matches our school colors and include new built-in locks.
Approximately $30,000
A new or used Gator equipped with a snow plow would significantly improve snow removal and campus safety during winter weather. It would also be useful throughout the year for landscaping, moving large items, and other campus needs.
Approximately $2,000
Our current Cardinal Louie uniform is at least 12 years old. It has shrunk, faded, developed an odor, and is becoming fragile.
A new uniform will allow Cardinal Louie to continue making appearances at school and parish events for years to come.
St. Louis de Montfort Catholic School looks to St. Katharine Drexel as an example of generous service and a life dedicated to Christ.
St. Katharine used the gifts God gave her to serve others, particularly through education. Her life reminds us that our time, talents, and resources are gifts from God, and we are called to use them in service of Him and others.
This year's Walkathon motto comes from her words:
"Press Forward and Fear Nothing."
The Walkathon gives our students an opportunity to practice that same spirit of generosity. They are learning that their efforts can make a difference for their school, their classmates, and the mission of the Church.
St. Katharine Drexel, pray for us!
No need to submit your child’s T-shirt size! We are ordering a variety of shirt sizes to ensure there is a T-shirt for every student. Families do not need to worry about submitting sizes.
Every family must register their student(s) on the Boosterthon website. Registration allows us to track donations for individual student and top family prizes.
Visit mybooster.com to register. Families can refer to the registration instructions and multiple-student family instructions provided by the school for additional guidance.
For families with multiple children participating, family pledging will automatically be enabled. This means donations will be split evenly among participating students.
If you would prefer to turn off family pledging, you must manually change this setting in your student dashboard before any donations are made. Once a donation has been made, family pledging can no longer be turned off.
Families may also drop off cash or checks at the school office to avoid paying fees through the online platform.
Please place donations in an envelope clearly labeled with your student's name and homeroom and give it to the school secretaries. These donations will be manually added to the system before prizes are determined.
Company matching gifts are also highly encouraged! If your employer offers a matching gift program, consider taking advantage of it to increase the impact of your family's support.
The Boosterthon website will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 11. At that point, all prize earnings will be final.
Thank you to all the students who participated in this year's T-shirt artwork contest. We received so many wonderful submissions!
Congratulations to Scarlett Walters, who was selected as this year's T-shirt artwork contest winner!
Walkathon T-shirts will be distributed at school before the event and should be worn on October 9.
Students in PreK–5 should wear their Walkathon T-shirt with uniform bottoms. Middle school students may wear their T-shirt with uniform bottoms or PE uniform shorts. Other athletic shorts will not be permitted.
We have updated prizes to help motivate and celebrate our students' fundraising efforts!
Please refer to the school's prize information and distribution schedule for the latest details.
Please note: If a student is sick or absent on a scheduled prize distribution date, there will be no makeup distribution.
There are many opportunities to help before, during, and after the Walkathon!
We invite families to consider volunteering and helping make this year's event a success. Additional opportunities may be added as prize distribution dates are finalized, so please check the signup page for updates.
Volunteering is also a great way to contribute toward your engaged parishioner requirements.
For questions about volunteer opportunities, please contact Nicole Roberts at 317-727-0808.
On October 9, our students will come together to walk, have fun, build community, and support their school.
Every step helps us move closer to our $90,000 goal, but the impact goes beyond what we raise. Through events like the Walkathon, we teach our students the importance of generosity, sacrifice, service, and striving for Christ.
Thank you for walking with us and supporting the mission of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic School!
