If you were the patron saint of something, what would it be?
Laughter or memes! I love a good laugh with family, friends, and parishioners and sharing the often funny ways the Lord works in our lives. And, sometimes when things are not turning out the way we had planned in this life, finding some humor in the situation can boost our spirits!
Who is your favorite saint, and why?
One of my favorite saints is St. Andre Bessette, a humble, simple, porter who had a deep trust in the Lord, a strong devotion to St. Joseph, and great love for the sick and needy. A quote from St. Andre: "There is so little distance between heaven and earth that God always hears us. Nothing but a thin veil separates us from God."
Another of my favorites is St. Teresa of Calcutta. She was one of the first saints I studied when I was preparing to enter the Catholic Church (she was a Venerable back then). I love her no-nonsense, steadfast, and complete abandonment to the Lord's command to love one another, even in the midst of many, many trials. A favorite quote: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."
What do you love about working for the Church/SLDM?
I tell people often that I truly believe I have the best job in the world! I love that the work I do each day plays an integral role in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, where we truly experience heaven on Earth! My job is to help all of you draw nearer to the Lord through sacred music -- a calling that I do not take lightly. I also love getting to know each of you and your families, and, of course, helping you use your gifts in music ministry!
