If you were the patron saint of something, what would it be? My children would say, "The patron saint of making sure we are doing the sign of the cross correctly and using 'prayer hands'". I guess I would say, "The patron saint of 90s country music!"
Who is your favorite saint, and why? Difficult question- can I choose two? One of my favorite saints is Pope Saint John Paul II. I think it is partly because I have been in the same room as him but more importantly because of his authentic love for God, sense of humor, and ability to be clear on church teachings yet accessible to people of all levels of faith and religion. One of my favorite quotes from him is: “The future is in your hearts and in your hands. God is entrusting to you the task, at once difficult and uplifting, of working with Him in the building of the civilization of love.” I have work to do not just with my hands but with my heart as well. My other favorite saint is St Mary Magdalene. She knew that she had a lot of work to do within herself and she surrounded herself with holy people. She drew closer to Christ and it is a reminder to me to do the same!
What do you love about working for the Church/SLDM? I love working for SLDM in my current role because no two days are the same and I have the honor of walking with people and families on some of the best days of their lives like a wedding or a Baptism and also some of the hardest like the death of a loved one or a difficult diagnosis. I see, first hand, the power, majesty, and beauty of God every single day.
